Try forest hiking, mountain biking, horse trekking, skiing (in winter), bungy jumping, quad biking or jet boating. A round of golf (mini or regular) or clay bird shooting. Why not get wet with river rafting or fishing or fly over the magnificent scenery on a scenic flight by chopper or plane? Simple pleasures abound in this area of NZ that us locals like to call paradise, Hanmer is our country's best kept secret. At the end of the day, head for the world famous Thermal Pools to soak in the naturally heated pools – or treat yourself to a range of indulgent spa therapies in-house.
