Hanmer Springs Village FAQ (what to do in Hanmer)

Is there much to do in the village?

Yes, the most common feedback we receive from guests when they leave is "We wish we could have stayed longer..." Refer to our suggestions of Relaxing Activities (click here) and also to the Village Adrenalin Activities (click here). You really can do as much as you want or simply as little as you wish, the emphasis of our Alpine Spa Village is total relaxation.

What touring route do you recommend?

The Alpine Pacific Route (click here) explains some very good options for touring in our district & beyond.

Does it snow often?

No, we generally get snow at ground level maybe once or twice during winter, the mountains however are beautifully covered for around 7 months of the year from May to October.

When are the ski fields open?

Generally the ski season is short only lasting July to August, sometimes into early September. Two options are available, our local field Amuri (30 minute drive) and Mt Lyford (60 minute drive).

Are the bike / walking tracks well sign posted?

Yes, all tracks are well maintained & numerous signs lie throughout the network of over 65km of tracks on our doorstep.

Is there a service station?

Yes a Caltex garage is open 8:30am to 6pm each day.

Is there a supermarket?

Yes a Four Square is open until 7pm weekdays and 8pm weekends.

Whatever happened to the Hanmer Springs Lodge?

The Hanmer Springs Lodge was rebuilt after the great fire and is now named Hanmer Springs Hotel. We prefer to tell people that the modern Hanmer Springs Lodge is at Hanmer Apartments, quiet, spacious well appointed 2 bedroom units, only 4 in total, so boutique!
